Love (Second Distortion)

The Second Distortion of the Law of One — the Creative Principle, also called Logos, by which free will finds focus and produces Light.

What Ra means

Love is what free will becomes when it focuses. In Ra's ordered emanation of the Law of One, the First Distortion (free will) narrows into the Second Distortion — Love, also called the Creative Principle or Logos — and this Love then generates the Third Distortion, Light (15.21.4-6). Love is therefore not primarily an emotion but the great co-Creator: the intelligent energy that, using the potential of intelligent infinity, builds a creation and produces all form.

Ra draws a careful distinction between the Second Distortion Love and the vibration of love that characterizes fourth density. The Second Distortion is the galactic-scale creative power — the great activator and primal co-Creator using intelligent infinity, with the power to direct light in its distortions; the vibration of love is the lesson learned by fourth-density entities who have mastered an activity called loving (27.13.3-5). Collapsing this distinction makes Love seem to refer only to an emotion, when Ra is primarily naming the force by which a Logos structures its entire creation.

Love and Light are inseparable in practice, but Ra's paired terms distinguish their roles. Love/light is the enabler, the power that streams into a creation; light/love is what results when Light has been impressed with Love — the manifested, shaped substance (15.22.3-5). The entity in third density who seeks love in each moment is, in Ra's view, aligned with the very principle by which creation itself is built.

Ra states the sequence of the three primary distortions:

The First Distortion, Free Will, finds focus. This is the Second Distortion known to you as Logos, the Creative Principle, or Love. This intelligent energy thus creates a distortion known as Light.

Ra clarifies the difference between Love as a distortion and love as a density vibration:

The vibration, or density, of love, or understanding, is not a term used in the same sense as the Second Distortion, Love; the distortion Love being the great activator and primal co-Creator of various creations using intelligent infinity; the vibration love being that density in which those who have learned to do an activity called “loving” without significant distortion, then seek the Ways of Light or Wisdom.

Thus in vibratory sense love comes into light. In the sense of the activity of unity in its free will, love uses light and has the power to direct light in its distortions.

Ra distinguishes the two paired forms of the same creative force:

There is the same difference between love/light and light/love as there is between teach/learning and learn/teaching. Love/light is the enabler, the power, the energy giver. Light/love is the manifestation which occurs when Light has been impressed with Love.
