Law of One

Ra's central teaching: all things, beings, and events are one — not merely connected but identical — and that one is the Infinite Creator.

What Ra means

The Law of One is the claim that everything is, at its deepest level, a single thing. Ra gives its plainest form in 4.20: not merely that beings are connected, but that there is only identity — no polarity, no disharmony, no right or wrong, only the one that is love/light, light/love, the Infinite Creator. The key move is from similarity to sameness. Ra is not teaching kinship between separate things; it is saying that the apparent separation is a distortion of a prior unity that never actually divided (4.20.2-3).

Because the One exceeds anything language can point at, the Law cannot be stated — only approximated. Its primal distortions — free will, love, light — are how it enters the created world, and it is through those distortions that seekers approach it rather than grasping it directly (15.21.4-7). Ra holds that this unity is also the root of healing: a mind/body/spirit complex that realizes the Law of One at depth finds the intelligent infinity within it reforming its illusion of body, mind, or spirit to accord with that wholeness (4.20.5-6).

The Law is not restricted to the positively oriented. Ra states it plainly: it is available to any social memory complex striving for any seeking of purpose, whether service to others or service to self (7.15.5-6). Both paths use it; both are expressions of the One exploring Itself. And its compassion is built into its logic: since it contains all, it cannot abhor any (1.5.7).

The Law's irreducibility to language — and its clearest approximation:

The Law of One, though beyond the limitations of name, as you call vibratory sound complexes, may be approximated by stating that all things are one, that there is no polarity, no right or wrong, no disharmony, but only identity. All is one, and that one is love/light, light/love, the Infinite Creator.

The logical ground: infinity cannot be many, so it must be unity:

That which is infinite cannot be many, for many-ness is a finite concept. To have infinity you must identify or define that infinity as unity; otherwise, the term does not have any referent or meaning. In an Infinite Creator there is only unity.

You are not speaking of similar or somewhat like entities or things. You are every thing, every being, every emotion, every event, every situation. You are unity. You are infinity. You are love/light, light/love. You are. This is the Law of One.

The three primal distortions through which the Law enters creation:

The First Distortion, Free Will, finds focus. This is the Second Distortion known to you as Logos, the Creative Principle, or Love. This intelligent energy thus creates a distortion known as Light.

From these three distortions come many, many hierarchies of distortions, each having its own paradoxes to be synthesized, no one being more important than another.
