Balance a catalyst (the evening work)
Ra's method for working a strong emotion all the way through, using anger as the worked example.
Take a strong emotion — Ra's example is anger. First bless and love it in yourself rather than suppress it. Then, in the mind alone, intensify it consciously until its folly is seen — not as folly itself, but as raw energy that can be accepted and re-directed upward. Then balance it with its opposite.
“This entity … blesses and loves this anger in itself. It then intensifies this anger consciously in mind alone until the folly of this red-ray energy is perceived, not as folly in itself, but as energy subject to … control.”

Open the mind like a door — the key is silence
The prerequisite for all mental work toward intelligent infinity.
Cultivate the ability to hold silence of self at will. Ra gives this as the prerequisite of all mental work — the open door through which the deeper hierarchy of mind becomes reachable.
“The prerequisite of mental work is the ability to retain silence of self at a steady state when required by the self. The mind must be opened like a door. The key is silence.”
