The Choice
The pivotal task of third density: the choice between service to others (positive) and service to self (negative).
What Ra means
The Choice is third density's organizing purpose. Everything in the design of third-density life — the veil, the catalyst, the short timespan, the density of experience — exists to bring an entity to the point of committing, decisively, to one of two paths: service to others or service to self. Both lead eventually to the Creator; the difference is the road. What third density demands is not arrival but orientation — a choice made firmly enough that the entity can be harvested and continue its evolution ().
The scope of this decision is paradoxical. Ra describes it as the work of a moment, yet calls it the axis upon which the creation turns (). This is because once the choice is made, all subsequent densities refine and develop it rather than revisiting it. The prelude is long — the whole architecture of the tarot, which Ra connects to the roots of the mind, was designed to prepare the entity for this moment — but the Choice itself is a pivot, not a process ().
Both paths are genuine and available. The negative path, pursued with sufficient intensity and consistency, can harvest an entity as effectively as the positive. What is required is a clear, committed orientation: fifty-one percent dedication to the welfare of other-selves on the positive path, or no more than five percent dedication to other-selves on the negative — thresholds Ra calls equally difficult, with the sinkhole of indifference between them (). Above third density the architecture of the mind that was built to produce this choice persists, but without the veils that made choosing necessary ().

The Choice as the axis of the creation — a momentary decision that the remainder of the densities refines:
This is precisely correct. The prelude to choice must encompass the laying of the foundation, the establishment of the illusion and the viability of that which can be made spiritually viable. The remainder of the densities is continuous refining of the choice. This also is greatly lengthened, as you would use the term.
The choice is, as you put it, the work of a moment, but is the axis upon which the creation turns.
The tarot's twenty-two cards culminate in The Choice — the architecture laid in the roots of the mind:
Those concept complexes you call the tarot lie, then, in three groups of seven: the mind cycle, one through seven; the physical complex cycle, eight through fourteen; the spiritual complex cycle, fifteen through twenty-one. The last concept complex may best be termed The Choice.
Upon the foundation of transformation of each complex, with free will guided by the root concepts offered in these cycles, the Logos offered this density the basic architecture of a building and constructing and synthesizing of data culminating in The Choice.
Above third density the Logos's architecture remains, but the veils that make the Choice necessary do not:
These philosophical foundations are those of third density. Above this density there remains the recognition of the architecture of the Logos but without the veils which are so integral a part of the process of making the choice in third density.
