Asked what the Hierophant governs, Ra needed a session to correct itself; asked what governs the Sun, Ra confirms the identification and states the definition in the next two exchanges, cleanly.

The concept

Card nineteen completes the trio of significators. The questioner guesses that archetype nineteen is the Significator of the Spirit and Ra confirms it outright, then, asked directly to describe it, answers at once: an entity's significator here is what actually does something with what the spirit complex makes available, and what it does is either give that away or keep it (80.16, 80.17). Nothing about the definition is unique to spirit in form — mind, body, and spirit each function under their own Matrix, Potentiator, and Significator, architectures that resemble one another but are never interchangeable (79.17) — and the whole possibility of any of the three tracing back to one Logoic decision: to posit mind, body, and spirit as complex, and in doing so grant each significator the Creator's own free will, in order that it might become what it is not (78.19, 78.20).

What makes this particular significator worth pausing on is what the spirit complex is for in the first place. Ra describes the spirit not as a repository but as a shuttle — the means by which the adept calls directly through to the universe for power, rather than holding that power as some private possession (80.14). The Significator of the Spirit is the entity standing at that shuttle's far end, and the question the card poses is what it does once the calling has been answered: pass the light along to others, or hold onto it for the self alone. Nothing in the architecture forces either direction — the same shuttle serves the entity that gives and the entity that keeps.

The Logoic decision that made any significator possible, spirit's included:

The first Logos to instill what you now see as free will in the full sense in its sub-Logoi came to this creation due to contemplation in-depth of the concepts, or possibilities of conceptualizations, of what we have called the significators. The Logos posited the possibility of the mind, the body, and the spirit as being complex. In order for the significator to be what it is not, it then must be granted the free will of the Creator.

The body, the mind, and the spirit each contained and functioned under the aegis of the Matrix, the Potentiator, and the Significator. The Significator of the mind, body, and spirit is not identical to the Significator of the mind, body, and spirit complexes.
