# Social memory complex *Canonical page: https://ra.contact/concepts/social-memory-complex* *Last updated: 2026-06-25* *A group of mind/body/spirit complexes that has become as a single being — the experience of each entity available to all.* ## What Ra means When a group of [mind/body/spirit complexes](https://ra.contact/concepts/mind-body-spirit-complex) becomes able to act as one being, every entity's experience available to the whole, Ra calls it a *social memory complex*. It is properly a [fourth-density](https://ra.contact/concepts/fourth-density) phenomenon (38.7); at third density a positive one is rare and, as far as Ra is aware, a negative one is unheard of (38.7). Ra is careful that such a complex is *not* designed by a [Logos](https://ra.contact/concepts/logos). The unity of the Creator already lives in the smallest thing made by love, still more in a self-aware being; rather, the distortion of free will lets a social memory complex appear as a possibility at a certain stage in the evolution of mind. Its deeper reason is the Creator's drive to know Itself — for when many minds form this communion, all the experience of each is available to the whole, and so the Creator knows more of Its creation in each entity (47.2). Both polarities form them, but by different roads. A positive complex integrates harmoniously and then goes forth to aid those of less polarity — its service *is* its work (48.6). A negative complex forms only after a long fighting for position, and then reaches outward to control the less polarized (48.6). Service-to-self societies such as the [Orion group](https://ra.contact/concepts/orion-group) are prone to falling apart, because the separation implicit in holding power over others steadily weakens the energy they gather (7.15). ## In Ra's words What lets a social memory complex form, and the reason behind it: > However, the distortion of Free Will causes the social memory complex to appear as a possibility at a certain stage of evolution of mind.
