# Higher Self *Canonical page: https://ra.contact/concepts/higher-self* *Last updated: 2026-06-25* *An entity's sixth-density oversoul — the end result of all its accumulated experience, given back to its earlier self as a gift from its own future.* ## What Ra means The Higher Self is not a separate being but the entity's own future self — specifically, the self that exists with full understanding of the entity's entire accumulation of experiences. From that vantage it aids healing of experiences not properly learned and assists in the programming of further life experience (36.2.3-4). Ra is careful to distinguish the Higher Self from the mind/body/spirit complex totality, which is more like a shifting pool of parallel developments of the same entity; the Higher Self draws on that pool but is a more structured presence within the space/time continuum (36.2.5-8). The origin of the Higher Self is unusual. Ra explains that it is a manifestation given to the late sixth-density mind/body/spirit complex as a gift from its own future selfness — specifically from the mid-seventh density, whose last action before turning toward the allness of the Creator is to give this resource back to the sixth-density self moving through time (37.6.3-5). Self, Higher Self, and the mind/body/spirit complex totality are three points on one circle; the only distinction is time/space (37.6.6-8). Free will is paramount in the Higher Self's operation. It does not manipulate its past self; it protects when possible and guides when asked, but it cannot program more than the lessons and certain predisposing limitations (36.7.3-8). The choices that generate the actual experiences remain entirely in the provenance of the earlier self. Ra uses the analogy of a map: the destination is known, the roads are known, but who walks them and how is not fixed in advance (36.7.5-8). The Higher Self exists in what appears to be simultaneity with the earlier self — but Ra corrects this perception: the Higher Self is moving to the mind/body/spirit complex from a position in its future, as needed (36.5.2-3). ## In Ra's words The Higher Self defined — its function in healing and life programming, and its relationship to the totality: > The higher self, as you call it—that is, that self which exists with full understanding of the accumulation of experiences of the entity—aids the entity in achieving healing of the experiences which have not been learned properly and assists, as you have indicated, in further life experience programming, as you may call it. > > The mind/body/spirit complex totality is that which may be called upon by the higher self aspect, just as the mind/body/spirit complex calls upon the higher self.
